Presented as part of my Spring exhibition, “FERTILE GROUND”, at the Nina Baldwin Gallery and facilitated by Emmy Esquerre (@emmyesquerre), the Afropick & Comb workshop paid homage to Emmy’s grandfather, a former Black Panther Party member. Through the symbolic significance of the afro pick, participants reflected on themes of Black identity, pride, resistance, and legacy while engaging in a tactile, creative experience through clay.
A cozy, creative workshop experience that includes coloring, collaging, and hand-sewing a small teddy bear to take home. Led by designer Omotayo Tinubu (@mrtinubu).
